Search for Missing Toddler Ends in Tragedy in Kandal

Kandal: It has been confirmed that the remains of an almost 2-year-old boy found in Kandal’s Koh Thon district on Wednesday of this week are those of the 22-month-old boy who was reported missing 10 days earlier.

A forensic examination was carried out by police and the Child Protection Unit which confirmed the little boy’s identity. The body was found in thick vegetation but foul play is not suspected.

Investigations have revealed that the child had been reported missing after playing in the area with his uncles. It appears he had become separated from them while following them home, had become disoriented and lost. He was approximately 3kms from his home.

Searches had been conducted by the family and local community but had been unsuccessful in locating the little boy.
